Hyunhong CHOI is the director of Technology & Data Intelligence (T&DI) Lab at Kyung Hee University. He is currently working as an assistant professor of Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at Kyung Hee University. Prior to joining Kyung Hee University, he was a research assistant professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and before that he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Engineering Research at Seoul National University.
At the intersection of data science and social science, T&DI Lab conducts research to address various industrial and societal issues that our society faces. It focuses on the keyword "technology" and develops data-driven quantitative analysis methodologies to derive knowledge and strategies that can be effectively utilized for organizational decision-making.
In particular, the lab conducts research on sustainable development, identifying key technological trends and opportunities and devising relevant strategies in areas such as energy, environment, mobility, and ICT. The research conducted in this lab can be valuable not only for companies who wish to secure competitive advantages in key promising technology fields but also for the governments who wish to formulate strategies and policies to solve various industrial and societal problems using technology as a tool.
The lab pursues interdisciplinary research combining theories and methodologies from various fields including engineering, management, and economics. It places emphasis on deriving additional implications through the synergistic utilization of diverse types of analytical data (patents, surveys, texts, geospatial data, etc.) and methodologies (machine learning, applied econometrics, optimization, etc.).
